Anything charisma can do, hypnosis could do better, and with less trouble too. Fictional hypnosis, anyway, sadly the human brain seems to complex for instant manual overrides, as far as we can figure.
But if it's subtlety you're worried about, there's no stopping you from being subtle. Delicate emotional pushes, key feelings inserted into someone's mind whenever they see you, or do something you like, to train them slowly into whatever you want them to be. Seems more fun than going the long way and dazzling them with charms tailored for them, hoping they'll interpret them the way you want them to and behave accordingly.
