Let me ask you a quick question. If a Pokemon has a base attack of 70, about what level of lifting/striking strength does that correspond to?
If your answer is anything other than "there's no possible way to know that" then you are lying and/or pulling something out of your ass.
To put it simply, base stats tell you literally nothing other than how Pokemon correspond to other Pokemon. There is no reference point to say "a base attack of 30 means this" or "a base speed of 40 means you can dodge this". And yet for some reason people seem to put so much stock in them for battle boards even though they are only useful for gameplay purposes.
Even if you try to scale them off of Pokedex entries, it still doesn't work. For example a Pokemon stated to be capable of Mach 2 has a lower base speed than a Pokemon stated to be capable of Mach 1. And it's not like stats dictate what moves a Pokemon can learn. A Pokemon with a base attack of 5 can still be taught to push around massive boulders and a Pokemon with a base speed of five can still be taught to move fast enough to produce after images.
Just to give one more example of how worthless base stats are for our purposes, a small bird has a higher attack than a thirty foot snake made out of rock. So can Starly easily kill a person, or is Onix too weak to do any harm?
Just going off of base stats, there's no way of knowing. Don't just assume a Pokemon is weaker/stronger than a given character just because their attack is bad/good by competitive standards.
