Oreburgh Gate, Oreburgh Mine and Ravaged Path are areas the player explore really early on (the first two even before the first badge). Granite Cave is explored only after the player gets its first badge, and New Mauville and Abandoned Ship can only be explored very late in the game. Clearly they're more complex areas, cause they're explored much later on. Also, you purposefully didn't show some of the Sinnoh areas and choose to arbitrarily decide which areas have a gimick and which don't.

Revisiting Sinnoh I'm just now starting to remember how repetitive some of these areas are. It's all caves and mountains and mud. I know it's Pokemon's Hokkaido, but man, Hoenn's environments were so much more rich.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sinnoh, but Platinum is still great compared to DP. For example, even your statement "the only completely unique lines found as random encounters are Nosepass, Clefairy, and Absol" isn't true for DP, since Nosepass and Absol are postgame only in DP.

The routes in RBY/FRLG/LGPE kinda suck to be honest. The most complex Kanto route isn't even in those games, it's in GSC/HGSS, and even then it pales in comparison to the Hoenn Route 119 or Sinnoh route 212. It made sense for RBY Kanto to be comparatively bland due to the hardware limitations of the GameBoy, but LGPE is on the Switch so it's quite underwhelming.

R/S are just as good if not better than Emerald in terms of the story and game flow, and the base games have such good routes and Pokédex variety that the less Pokémon doesn't even matter like it does for DP/P. The only reason emerald should be above R/S is because of the battle frontier, in which case R/S should be A tier, or at least B tier if you are being snobbish. C tier is just disingenuous. The rest is pretty accurate although I would honestly move BW2 to C tier because the kanto pandering ruined the only good thing about gen 5.

Lol. The wild area was at the bare minimum something somewhat unique and different to the mainline Pokémon games. My Cornet is a mountain, like all the others. It has snow on top.
