Playing Crystal, wanted to use a team only made up of Gen 2 Pokemon. Thoughts?
>using 6 pokemon i like purely from a design standpoint
>tempted to swap misdreavus out for jumpluff since misdreavus is really late game (tyranitar stays regardless cause it's tyranitar)
>ursaring is also iffy, but i'm feeling stronger on it than misdreavus
>forretress is based and will never be replaced by anything

Going through ideas off the top of my head just repeats the issue. Heracross and Lanturn are bog standard, then there is Miltank, then Phanpy but you have Piloswine.

Perhaps I'll swap Misdreavus for Skarmory for Fly and someone else for Lanturn for Surf?

Well, even fighting all trainers you will be level 40~42 in a team of 4 mon, so keep those two for Kanto.

I should probably take a flying type, especially since I can't get Misdreavus/Tyranitar until the absolute end of the game. My team is still weak to them, though, even with new additions.

Piloswine doesn't learn Earthquake by level, there's a single Earthquake TM in the game. You get it in Victory Road. Typhlosion can use Dig instead.

Return is better than Strength, and Rollout is bad after the early game. Icy Wind deals more damage than Powder Snow. I prefer Thunderwave over Confuse Ray, as it lets your slower teammates (mainly Ursaring) outspeed fast foes.

Current team in Renegade Platinum. Mostly trying to just use pokemon that aren't starters and ones that I haven't used before, but I'm really struggling with what I've got. I'm a huge fan of Qwilfish. It's not good but if you don't want to use Lanturn or Quagsire, it's usually my pick. The good thing about Lanturn is that's it's also a way to remove Ampharos and make room for a flying type

I posted this in another thread, but who should my last pokemon be?
Garchomp? Bidoof? Luxray? Toxicroak? Or another? Trying to use Sinnoh Only pokemon that I haven’t used before.

Toxicroak is cool, Garchomp is a good idea if you've never used one.

Have you considered Lucario Hippowdon or Lopunny or one of the gen 4 evolutions like ambipom

I used Lucario in the OG games & he helped me beat the elite four back then so I would like to try & not use a new one. The Hippowdon Looks pretty cool, never thought about Lopunny. And I’m not opposed to a Gen 4 Evo. But I’m torn between garchomp & toxicroak

Poison Jab is extremely useful for some annoying Azumaril trainers or other stray fairy types. Plus, Dry Skin Toxicroak is immune to water and heals on the handful of rainy routes. Very useful and fun for an in game team, and you can get a Croagunk as soon as you get underground, it's not too far from where you start.

You can't get Tyranitar until post-game, so I'd suggest you fill it's slot, at least until post game, with a Water type like Lanturn or Qwilfish

You're gunna need something to know waterfall also to get to victory road. I hate the fact I need waterfall at that point in the game the move is so redundant when you have surf and there is no pc after so I cant drop my HM slave I have to carry it on my team that entire route and victory road.
