So... Why these 3? Oshawott I can get behind because Samurott and Samurai and shit but the other two feel like completely random picks. If the region is based on old Sinnoh why not the Sinnoh starters? Or go with something different like how Colosseum/XD did.

They all represent old japanese weaponry. Bows, explosives, swords. Thats literally just it, theyre also getting new forms and for some reason no sinnoh mon is getting a new form so theres that too

No, they were picked for the same reasons as Oshawott was. The starters are all references of military roles in feudal japan

Because they're not established + it'd be boring to revisit a region with the exact same starter set (e.g. BW2)
