Some of these totem fights can be genuinely tricky if you're not prepared for them. There's no point killing the little dudes because they'll just keep respawning. Do you have any status, like paralysis that you can throw up? Growl decreases the Attack of both enemy Pokemon in double battles, which'll reduce their physical damage at least. Are Looner and Noinoi packing any flying type moves for Super Effective hits? And lastly, you could consider switching out your Egg just to help this fight. Even if you just caught a wild pokemon with Intimidate for example, that'd let you start the fight with their physical damage reduced.

When I was doing an ice monotype run I used a Delibird with Bounce after I ate shit on my first attempt. You might be able to do something similar with your Drifloon.

Go get an electric type. Also ignore the little shits it summons, you'll just waste time defeating those while it continues hurting you, and then it'll just call more of them when you beat the ones it called. Always focus fire on the totem unless you're using attacks that hit all. Then after you've taken down the totem go after the other stuff it's summoned.

This. I just picked up UM a month ago now and thought I was gonna cheese it with bringing over good IVs mons that countered the "gyms" types. I got slapped in the face a few times and barely scarped by.
