They're fine games. Even XY was more of a case of "good ideas, poor execution." SwSh and BDSP are my least favorite games desu, and even then I can sort of appreciate them.

I see the Kalos defense force is already here. It's too bad XY gave all of 3D pokemon such a bad reputation, people might've been more open to SM from the start otherwise.

is there any way to skip the several hours of tutorial mode at the beginning? each time i manage to force myself to play a little bit further but i never get out of the tutorial despite 5+ hours of progress
is there a menu option that i accidentally enabled? i just want to play the game but it keeps interrupting me and telling me what to do

No, they are the worst mainline games and the "third versions" didn't fix the issues with the base game. It was also very greedy to release 2 separate 3rd versions when it could have been contained to 1 third version

SM were okay, but USUM should've been the game released instead of them. Overall though, the game had great concepts with questionable execution which is at least more than what you can say for the gens just before and after it. Shit like Totems, Island Challenge, Ultra Beasts, Regional variants were such huge and exciting new features and added a much needed breath of fresh air into the series.
