I think it was hit and miss with ORAS. Some tracks improved and some are worse. BDSP honestly has the best soundtrack of any remake, even if they may be the worst remakes (or second worst, if you count LGPE).

All of these sound considerably worse compared to the originals, especially the battle themes. At least with the other remakes, even if you liked the original music better, the remixed versions sounded decent at worst

This is accurate. With a bit of tweaking ORAS could be on par with HGSS. Give the gym leaders their emerald teams, expand the regional dex, add the battle frontier to stop the whining, fix the XP share and better rematch teams. Call it Delta emerald

The LGPE soundtrack is just the original MIDI files slapped onto random orchestral libraries with 0 attempt at mixing or cohesive layering. Shota Kageyama doesn't know how to make music.

Indeed. If ORAS was Emerald like HGSS was Crystal, most of its problems would be gone. I just don't understand why GF refuse to use the same formula. They do it with everything else, why not this?

Maybe, although there's a number of story and map changes I'd make to be more in line with Emerald or improve on it. The unfortunate problem is the map loading bullshit, that just automatically makes it feel worse. You could argue something similar about Gen 4 slowness with HGSS, but it's really only noticeable with the HP drain. Compare that to ORAS having to load a new map what feels like every route. I dunno if it would reach HGSS levels, but it would definitely be closer, and easily better than FRLG and the fucking weird decisions made there. As it stands I'm not sure how to feel about it, aside from saying it's the best Gen 6 game and maybe the second best 3DS era game, not like either is saying much.

FRLG barely added anything to Kanto and was an absolute cash grab. BDSP is in the same boat. ORAS added a lot of new features not in the originals so that alone puts it ahead FRLG and BDSP
