I'm out of the loop, Pokemon's been dead to me for years now. Recommend good romhacks/fangames please.

I had a pretty fun time with Insurgence a couple years back. I don't particularly need multiplayer battling/trading, just looking for a solid comfy storymode experience.

Play Rejuvenation and Reborn ONLY if you appreciate edgy trash kino, also Reborn is very challenging and has a new indepth terrain system but sometimes becomes very frustrating as gym leaders/bosses have full access to competitively built teams while your access to good mons and items is dripfed.

If you want an unironically good fangame with minimal amounts of edge, nice new mon designs and developed storyline play Xenoverse.

I have played Rejuvenation.
How is Reborn different?
I don't know what to play other since I have finished Rejuvenation because I found this game so good.

I sorta liked the gameplay additions and the idea of spending a good part of the game in a huge sprawling metropolis but I had to drop it because grinding/training a new team for some battles was nearly mandatory and took a long time. Also while some scenes were so awful and on the nose they were honestly funny most of them were boring roleplay session tier exchanges between the creator's awful OCs, and of course I had zero attachment to any of them.

Reborn doesn't have difficulty settings iirc, the set difficulty isn't as hard as Rejuv Intense mode. The story is a LOT edgier, within the first minute or so about half a dozen people die in a terrorist attack. Multiple gym leaders have no problem straight up murdering the villainous team grunts. The Villainous Boss is just, better than you whenever the plot demands it. One of the gym leaders and the champion are trans or some shit. In general the writing is considerably more terrible than Rejuv. But the environmental design is pretty excellent. You spend the first 30-40% of the game in one city, and while that might sound horrible, I personally found it to be one of the most unique Pokémon experiences I ever played. Most mons aren't available through typical wild encounters cuz there's basically no grass patches, so you have to follow contextual events like in Rejuv. You find a Electrike being mauled by some Mighyena and save it to add it to you team. You go dumpster diving to find a Gulpin. Shit like that. It's fuckin kino.

The difficulty isn't as frustrating as Rejuv Intense but you will find yourself having to grind up new teammates to match the new threats every significant boss fight, and after a point the game basically expects you to rebreed your entire team for better IVs and Natures, and also EV train them. The game is about 90% done right now, the final episode is slated to come out this spring.

I'm quite bored and I want to play other games that are similar to Pokemon Rejuvenation or Pokemon Empyrean because I'm tired of the basic plot in every pokemon games and I don't know any other games like these two besides Reborn even though I haven't played it yet.

I haven't found Rejuvenation to be pretty edgy desu, there are only a few deaths and you barely see them. But I have heard Reborn was very edgy and there were a lot of deaths and you saw them. (Sorry for my bad english)

Since the final episode is first around spring I'd say you can go in now and still not be done by the time they've updated it, though I'm not sure if the new update will break old saves. Make sure to pick up the mod pack for the game that allows weather switching as well as day setting. Then optionally add debug mode so you can opt out of grinding if you get bored of it.

The only questionable one is Reborn, since it's made by a mentally ill tranny and it shows, but the earlygame worldbuilding as described by >>49123388 is fucking kino; worth it for that alone.

Prism is all around very polished and fun with some frustrating shit mixed in, and Vega is interesting as fuck with well-designed fakemon and great design, but it's also extremely difficult; you might want to play the Vega minus patch.

My favourite is Pokemon Desolation. It's along the same vein as Reborn and Rejuvenation with Field Effects etc. but in my opinion is better and less edgy, although there are a few edgy OCs.

Even though it's not finished yet there's enough content for my team to have hit level 70, and it hardcaps levels before each badge too.

Desolation is good if you can somehow go into the files and drastically reduce the encounter rate
because the map design is utterly retarded
the fact that pic related is only about a third of the dungeon you have to go through is legitimately exhausting, especially in conjunction with nonstop wild encounters.

The convoluted shit about the dreamers suffers a lot from just being long winded cutscenes where you watch edgy overpowered OCs teleporting behind one another and having a scene. It often comes off as stuff happening with barely any relation to whatever is currently going on, but it's actually the main plot of the game, with both evil teams and gym leader shehanigans being secondary at best.
But we're talking about an edgy fangame whose "cover legendary" is Darkrai, why bother digging into the lack of quality of its writing.
Ava is cute at least, I like her brash attitude.

Enabling debug to cut some of the crap out is also a great help to deal with the poor design choices that litter the game beyond map design.
It's also easier than changing encounter rates and you can just hold Ctrl to prevent random battles and walk through walls but the side effect is the actual convenience outside of areas like Blackview and some other ones.

How about I recommend you guys an entirely different Pokemon game called Zanzarah? It still suffers that problem where around the 70% game mark you suddenly wake up that you beat 95% of the game despite it feeling there was one more third worth of content to go through.

It's available to download from abandonware and freeware websites.
