Why do the remakes tend to have someone else as the protagonist in an alternate universe but in ORAS it's just a famished, pale version of May? Does existing as the protagonist in more than one alternate universe slowly kill you? Is it actually May's twin who killed May in the womb? How does this fit into Dawn's chibification?

There are multiples timelines and in the ones you play with GSC the fem MC is a girl named Kris, in the ones you play with HGSS the fem MC is a girl named Lyra. Just like the male MC in GSC is a boy named Gold and the male MC in HGSS is a boy named Ethan.
