He's an adult in SM which takes place years after his last appearance in B2W2 (which just reused his HGSS sprite anyways). He's young again in Let's Go but that game takes place at least ten years before SM going off Mina being a child in the game. Also Let's Go are dubiously canon as it is since they're weird replacements for gen I while simultaneously being sequels after Red and Blue had their journey. But I guess that last point supports your initial argument that lore is a fuck now.
