I know this is shitposting but late Gen 4 all the way through Gen 6 was such a long, atrocious stretch of movies that I'm shocked that5 they didn't just go full scorched earth and reboot it sooner. I Choose You was meh but Power of Us and Koko were great, let's hope they can keep it up when the next movie comes out of kung-flu development hell and gets announced.

Nah, animated would be Entei, but overall best Pokemon movie ever goes to Detective Pikachu simply because it's a bog standard decent action blockbuster movie and the bar was low.

No. Fucking no. The absolute worst Pokemon movie was pic related. And it's not even a "hurr hurr Best Wishes bad" thing, since I actually like most of that season. It's this particular movie that sucks. It's like they put every Pokemon movie into a computer, typed the names of some Pokemon, then had an AI write the script. It's just a fucking parade of every cliche the last 13 movies had done with absolutely nothing to redeem it. The only fucking notable thing about this atrocity is that they made it twice.

It wasn't the worst and it was kinda nice they attempted to change the formula but it was still really bad. A movie that solely depending on it's characters doesn't work if the characters themselves are 1 dimensional and boring.

You can usually spot someone from /padt/ because of their weird fixation with hating the Hoopa movie. Everyone else either thinks the big fight at the end makes the movie worth seeing or just shove it in the pile of unremarkable Pokemon movies. But /padt/ just fucking hates it for some reason.

Most people thought the Hoopa movie was awful, and in all fairness it was extremely bad.
Conceptually, it was great and had a lot of potential to make for an entertaining movie but it just dropped the ball so fucking hard it's unreal. It didn't help that it was promoted a lot too, furthering people's disappointments.

It's specifically /padt/ that always brings it up as a contender for worst Pokemon movie. Most other people I've talked to just stick it in the middle somewhere. I think it's just a case of the same 30 people talking to each other in the same place for so long that their opinions kind of standardize.
