>>49135252>Though to be honest I don't actually use YouTube, but I do play some online games where I have many friends that are into Pokemon stuff, and it's really hard to avoid everything.Oh, that's probably where we differ then. I mainly play single player games so I don't have to worry too much about friends bringing up Pokemon related things in voice chat. I've also muted friends on Twitter if I know they're likely gonna be tweeting about what I'm dodging spoilers for.
>Maybe it's because our way of thinking has changed over the years.I'd say it's a bunch of factors. For me, personally, my family was poor so I'd only get a few new games a year. So I'd spend a lot more time on the games that I already had since I didn't have much of a choice anyway. I have many more hours spent on gens 1-4 compared to gens 5-8 because of that. Nowadays, I'm also interested in checking out many other games since my tastes have also changed so I'm just not spending as much time on Pokemon as I did back then. Plus, accessibility to said other games is much easier as an adult vs as a kid due to having money, emulation and whatnot.
I'd say that a few days being stuck on something before looking up the solution is a fair "give-up time". Hell, it's probably too much.
Back when I studied math in college, my max give-up time on a problem I'd be stuck on would be 1 day at max before I'd go to office hours and ask for help. Life is just too short to continue being stuck on one thing. That time spent making little to no progress can be spent elsewhere, like solving another problem or learning and discovering something else. I don't know if I'd say it's a matter of patience(because a few days is already quite a lot), but rather, it's more a matter of how you value and want to spend your time. Sorry for all the blabbering.
