Near the end, he calls for help, leading you to find him in a deserted area far away from Pokémon centers. Your box link fails to work. He turns around to reveal he’s captured the box legendary and proceeds for wipe the floor with you. Even if you win, he leaves, blocking the normal exit. You take the long way around, making it to the Pokémon league, where he is the champion and the elite four are top admins of the evil team. After defeating him, the legendary smashes his own Poké Ball and leaves for you to catch it in the post game.
Your rival explains that the evil team offered him power he couldn’t resist. He yells it is unfair that you are so good. He should be champion forever. Breaks free of the police and juices up his Pokémon for one final battle. The game makes it so they are all at least the level of your highesr leveled Pokémon.
