Magma and Aqua weren't great but at least they were separate villains in separate games which added more to the version difference flavor.
Everything after is just trying to copy the worst aspects of them without any rhyme or reason, just destroy everything because apparently the world is a fucked to death pile of shit even though nothing is really that bad and everything around them is fine except for them specifically.
Team Yell was okay but then they ruined SWSH by devolving into the same shit again with rose.
