it's low res in noticeable places, uses an ugly attempt at cel shading that makes the ground look like plastic, has horrible texture tiling and much more. fixing this doesnt even take much besides a minimum of competence.

This is the worst way I've ever seen lighting applied. Everything is washed out and gross looking as a result. If they had used warm lighting and cool shading, it would look a LOT better, but they just used white and black and called it a day.

Yes, there is. They didn't spent 4 or 5 years working on this game, like BotW did. This was a game developed in a year or so.
You have literally 0 idea how game development works if you think you can just make the greatest game of all time in 6 months if you just "have money"

Like, I can argue about the art style choices, or the texture quality, or whatever. But at the end of the day after BDSP I'd take something super scuffed like this as opposed to something that arguably looks worse than a DS game. Still not pirating either, but that's more due to gameplay reasons, which is way more important to me. The original Xenoblade might have textures that look like ass, but that doesn't really effect the gameplay (which is servicable for the most part).

Pokemon games are not allowed to take forever to develop. They have rushed and quick dev cycles because of merchandise and 3 year long gens.

Being on rails only gives the advantage of more unique animations and scripted sequences. It doesn't automatically make the game better graphically.

My Question is Why do we only ever demand better quality from the games when there are so many other aspects to this franchise that could improve? Why is there only 1 anime with an occasional web series? Why aren't there more physical Pokemon Centers in the U.S.? This Series makes more money off of Merch than most other franchies make at all, yet it feels like a struggle to get merch for any pokemon that isn't Pikachu or Charizard.
