It balancing on its head 24/7 looked retarded as fuck in 3D. Having it draw from its inspo by doing a Capoeira dance/fighting stance while spinning when running/attacking is the best of both worlds, and only brainlets who think a Pokemon needs to be doing the cha cha slide with a triple handstand idle break or else it's poorly animated think otherwise.

The Hitmons were special in Gen 1 and 2 because they were the only Fighting types that used any specific martial art at all. The Machop line used a mix of all martial arts, Mankey and Primeape were just angry monkeys, etc.

Nowadays, pretty much every Fighting type Pokemon has a specific fighting style, so the Hitmons aren't special anymore. For instance, Judo is covered by Throh.

The issue with expanding the line is that most other fighting styles are covered by other fighting type pokemon. At best I think you might get regional variants where they represent a different school of their martial art. Something like a pressure fighter or slick Hitmonchan. Has there been a explicit MMA mon yet? Drawing a blank at the moment so maybe that coild be one.

Thinking about it, a lot of MMA outfits from the 90’s resemble Machamp’s shorts. Especially as mma fighters began to ditch boots/shoes. It’s just that every champioship belt in fighting happens to look similar.

I wish we got more Hitmons because Tyrogue has one of the most unique split evolutions, hell one of the most unique evolution methods period save the retarded shit in gen 8, and I think gamefreak should've made the most out of it. obtaining Hitmontop is a rewarding challenge that isn't too difficult if you know what you're doing...at least that's what I would say if IVs and EVs weren't completely retarded, but that's a discussion for a different thread.
