No seriously I would had been all over this when I was still a 6-10 year old watching Cubix, Digimon, Battle Network, playing with B-Damans, Beyblade. They're so so many cartoons about sentient collectables with tournaments.

That's entirely on them for trying to match Pokémon right out the gate. If they just did their own thing, they'd probably still be a thing. As is stands, they're yet another "pokémon killer" Pokémon outlasted.

The only way to be a Pokemon killer is to copy Pokemon's gen 1's cutesy designs and to hire somebody overly competent to handle the marketing, toys, anime, PR stunts, parades, musicals, songs, etc. Pokemon didn't become popular due to incompetent devs and a few shitty games, it became popular due to the amazing western marketing by an entirely different multinational group.

Yokai watch wasn't even trying to be a pokemon killer. The first game didn't even do that well until the anime. That's when it popped off in Japan. Level 5 just has really poor management when it comes to their ips which is insane because they're all about doing the multimedia cross promotion thing. The new Inazuma Eleven was supposed to come out in 2018. We ended up getting two seasons of anime with no game to go along with it so now the game is being reworked completely and is supposedly coming out in 2023.
