If you only care about battles and some monsters I guess.
If you don‘t like simple jrpgs that is about catching monsters, evolving them, battle with them, finding them, breed them, engage in a journey and a story (gen3 story is not that good honestly 5 and 7 are the best, or 1/2 if you like it more like souls where you just play and find stuff). Battle tower and Frontier back then was just added because not everyone could/would play online.
