Firstgenfag here, last game I played(other than the first ones) was pic related.

IMO it hits the perfect spot between "old and new" stuff(most pokemon you see dont stray THAT far from first and second gens) + it has some nice gimmicks(like following pokemon).

Among the newer games(or not that new), is there any one that approaches the feeling of pic related games?

For example, by introducing some new mechanics or gimmicks but not being a completely alien game(pokemon and gameplay wise).
