I think multiple abilities for Pokemon were a bad idea. Pokemon should largely have one ability, with different ones reserved for specific forms and used sparingly. Almost all the time with a Pokemon that uses multiple abilities, one of its abilities just completely outclasses the rest. By limiting it to a single ability, it would allow the Pokemon to be designed strictly around it, and make each Pokemon more unique as abilities would be less distributed (you'd ideally have less electrics with static as a possible ability as instead there'd be a handful with the ability for example).
