Good concept (Exaggerated, more powerful forms of currently existing pokemon, can only use one per battle)

Distribution could have been done much better (Giving megas to mons that actually needed them like Flygon and gen 2 starters, not shillmons like Charizard and Lucario or already powerful shit like Mewtwo and Fug)

Either remove the item or adjust the stats of pre-evos to make them a little weaker. Why GF are such babies about major changes to stats/types/abilities is beyond me.

decent idea but shit execution for the most part as is typical to gamefreak. should be on weak mons only instead of making already strong ones even stronger. also most of the designs either don't add much to the old design or just add too much imo. they should look like sidegrades, not upgrades, like with electabuzz and scizor.

I should have specified. I don’t think 4th evolutions should be a thing. I meant lowering the stats of things like Mawile/Absol/Sableye so that they could have evolutions. If they wanted to give the Kanto starters new forms, then just do split evos using the mega designs (and give them grass/ground, fire/dragon, water/steel types changes to make them different from the originals).

Were any of the megas worse than the regular form? Only one I could think of was Garchomp because it beefed the special attack for some reason, but it still wasn't terrible.

On the subject of Megas, what are some pokemon that you'd all like to see get one, either because it could use it competitively, or because you think it has decent design potential.

I think Cofagrigus could be neat. I could see it either turning into a pyramid (Basically going from a coffin to the crypt itself kinda thing), or the coffin opening up and you fight whats inside (I've seen a concept of this online before).

I'd also like a Mega Porygon Z, maybe have it really glitch out, it could even pay tribute to Missingno design wise.

Didn't somebody do a statistical analysis and determine Gen 5 had a lesser average BST than the gens immediately surrounding it or something like that? That having been said, that might be because they counted megas in the generation they originated in, so maybe that wasn't the most accurate list out there. I also don't remember any of the details, maybe Gen 6 was a low point, I can't fucking remember the details, but if anyone else does please help me out here.

Each one should have been a questline that takes a few days real time to get done. It would justify having them and make you close to the pokemon, like you're supposed to be with a mega. Also make it like fused Kyurem where you can have only one per game file to create scarcity.

Good idea executed like shit, giving to otherwise forgettable shitmons megas like Beedrill and Medicham and even some really good megas like Mawile was a good call but at the same time 90% of megas are given to Pokemon that are already strong enough without them, and some Pokemon even become sort of worst with them like Tyranitar. At the end of the day just giving a Pokemon a new evo or buffing them is fine too though.

In my memory it was the opposite, gen 5 had a huge BST spike for no good reason when gen 4 had cross-evos & its 20 or so legendaries to explain its high BST while gen 6 had megas
