I'm in the mood to play Pokemon on my Switch. Is this shit worth $60?
What about the expansion. Is there any advantage to getting it before completing the base game?

I thought the main game was mid but decently fun. When I came back months later to play the dlc, I'd realized the formula was so repetitive that I felt too burnt out to get back in the rhythm. In retrospect, I think I only thought the main game was as fun as it was because of the hype online and knowing that everyone else was playing at the same time.

Its enjoyable enough. Kantards and shills aside, an honest review is that with dlc its about $90, and no, its not really worth that. No pokemon game ever has been worth the $60 price tag except like USUM.

That said it is enjoyable and it is a pokemon game, so you'll end up liking it if you ever liked pokemon. Gen 8 has probably the highest amount of 'miss' desgins of any generation, but the music is really good and i've still had fun with it despite me believing this gen is one of the more lackluster ones

If you can get it on sale it's fun. DLC is best bought before so that you can play IoA in the intended way as a main game sidequest.

The wild areas and expansion are the only half-decent aspect of the game.
The routes are terrible, the towns look pretty nice but in reality are tiny, the story sucks even by Pokemon standards and there's no difficulty.
Like second post said, it's not worth the price of admission for the expansion alone.
If you can, I'd recommend emulating it.
