You have to take into account the fact that even kids in the Pokemon world can walk around in a room that has lava without collapsing from heat stroke, fall several stories without breaking their legs and even get shot out of cannons. A lot of the stuff that would insta-gib a normal person would just really really hurt a Pokehuman.
