It gets bad at Carlito, who is the first boss that will oneshot you if you don't grind EXP and EVs. And grinding for EXP and EVs to not get oneshotted quickly becomes unbearable, there's no painless way to get your mons with good EVs and EXP, even the postgame grindhouse is needlessly annoying. Why the fuck is there no NPC to set stuff, or minimal grinding mode? Every other recent ROM hack has much better QoL than Clover, which insists on keeping the mechanics of the base games while simultaneously demanding grinding to not get oneshotted by the fully EVd and IVd and overleveled bosses

you lose even less than you think anon

During important battles (gym leaders, team leaders etc) all items used are restored after battle

so you can use focus sash during gym battles and not loose it

Clover allows you to delete HM moves as if they were normal moves and restores PP upon teaching something a TM

EVs and levels are absolutely the problem

Not only was my team all several levels lower than Carlito's despite the fact i battled EVERY trainer up to that point and grinded Knogoats, i had trash EVs whereas Carlito had maxed out EVs and IVs, so he just oneshotted nearly everything i threw at him, the only way i could win was by abusing moody Mennopaws, but at that point i already knew the rest of Clover would be a miserably grindy experience so i quit

nice man. Snoop destoryed me first runthrough. I rebuilt, bred, tried to grind.. Carlito was like my 6th wall in that game. I had to raise my own Somboludo to beat Calrito, had to pick a specific 'mon for each of his. He is honestly the peak difficutly, even in postgame. Too bad you quit, but I've quit Rad Red a couple times now(Blaine, back to back Cerulean); Clover has a difficulty consistent, while RR is very unfun in its roadstop boss fights.

The second time I had (think): Rektroach, Triceps(WT), Birdhouse, Condoom, Glacialynx, Barbarkley. Just use Wonder Trade for good Pokemon or Blobbos.

Game is probably the best, if not one of the best, romhacks made. My only issue with it was that I felt like I needed to talk to literally every npc since they all have unique dialogue which overwhelmed my autism in the post game cities

There's very few Pokemon that are just bad (Blobbos, Gutsifly, Seamapan, etc.) but there are a considerable number of pokemon that are outclassed or just kind of meh, like the electric cow or Issisin. Also a lot of postgame mons are either the most broken thing ever or just kind of shit outside a handful of exceptions, so don't hold your breath

PKHex your moms if you hate grinding. The autists in here will screech about it but they can’t do anything if you do. The anti cheat only detects the common and physically impossible things like multiple Rare candies pass a certain threshold. Hex simply gives you something you could’ve done by yourself, so it doesn’t trip the system.

Blobbos, you can get golden caps in the post game and make one 6IVs and breed with that, in general i only breed a mon 5 times and then pick the best one
Also, you can get a Destiny Knot easily if you fight most trainers you fight

I forget the name since I've never used it and it's complete shit, but it's the game's equivalent of castform, you must defeat all the neo karma grunts in pai'a university (postgame area) before talking to the shadow council member otherwise you just get locked out of it.
technically you can still get it through wonder trade, but that takes forever

before postgame, if you want to win, you will need to swap your team up a lot because after around the midway point of the postgame most bosses will have full teams of max ev/iv mons with great coverage or strategies (there is a lucky egg, gen 6 exp share, and an exp grinding facility around the 3rd gym however). you either do that, or you grind evs with a macho brace you get in the second town.
once you get to postgame, you pretty much absolutely do need to grind evs/ivs. the game gives you a dedicated training facility for it, but it's still pretty slow

People say you need to train evs before the league but i didnt in my first playthrough and i didnt have problems until the 7th gym, its more based on your team being good against certain bossfights, there will always be one you will have trouble with, but it shouldnt be a problem

also as said, the training facility gives you rooms in postgame dedicated for a specific ev. however even with the macho brace you need to kill about 30 or so mons to max out a specific stat's evs

also note that evs are not shared throughout the party with the gen 6 exp share, so you will need to ev train every specific pokemon up

You don't need EVs or Max IVs to beat trainers up and including the E4, you will need to actually have decent movesets and not use 6 frail sweepers that all get one-shot by anything. Luckily this game has a lot of good bulky mons.
So basically you'll get roadblocked if you're stupid and stubborn and refuse to learn the battle system.

Because you're facing AI - stuff like boosting moves/ X items, weather teams, toxic stalling, trick room will quickly make you an unstoppable menace when you learn how to use them. You might want to avoid using these moves if you actually want to have to think beyond "How to set up my stat boost/weather/trick and instantly win".
