>>49164069You are functionally retarded. Firstly, they see the brand as a blatant kiddy IP and always have done, it's why they kept hounding GF for Pokémon 2, to further sell the kiddies on the thing. Game Freak's inability to pump out games in such short notice actually helped everyone, IP had a chance to breathe and organically grow (manga, merch, anime, tcg, etc) leading directly to today, where a game launch doubles the weekly console sales totals, as people buy their kids or themselves a new system to play Pokémon on. Secondly, they barely give a shit about their own mobile games (or the smartphone as an ecosystem in and of itself, for that matter), what makes you think they'd want to take one of their biggest (if not THE biggest) revenue-generating IP they have to an ecosystem they don't give a fuck for?
They have shares in Niantic, as allowing Google to make GO on the strength of one April fool's game that took the internet by storm tipped them off to the potential of further monetising adults who long stopped buying games or toys. Doesn't mean they want to stop monetising their children while gouging the adults though.
