Detective Pikachu is fine as a standalone film, the city the movie takes place in is pretty cool and seeing Pokemon like the Aipom and Bulbasaur acting like animals and traveling in packs was cool. Story was kinda shit but what can you do. It would've been cool to see how these movies would adapt more Pokemon, but there's only so much you can do when almost no Pokemon have enough of a personality to make a film out of. Not to mention, Deadpool and Pikachu unfused at the end of the movie, so it'd just be Tim and his white dad featuring a Pikachu with no qualifying personality traits besides "Mascot." The movie did its job, theres absolutely no need to stretch it out to be as profitable as possible.
