Red/Blue need SGB colors or they're black and white or some fixed GBC/GBA palette you can select. Stadium 1&2 play these with SGB colors.
Yellow is similar between SGB and GBC colors, but typically looks more saturated with GBC colors though that's only done to compensate for the GBC's lower saturation screen.
GSC look much better with GBC colors than with SGB colors, since they take proper advantage of the GBC's color mode. Stadium 2 plays these with GBC colors.
