I think they either didn't made enough cash during Kickstarter + Early / Didn't get enough money spent ingame, and the drop of the post 1.0 update are sad.
I think it only proves that to aim to be as a Pokémon competitor, even an indie team can make the work, but they need a bigger branch to support the financial aspect of the release.
It's really shocking Bandai Namco didn't try to launch a Digimon contender or another competitor didn't try to back a Pokémon-like when the core franchise, even with low quality (as it can be admitted by the community) can sell millions by sheer habitus mecantilis
