Yes, this is what happened. But here's the problem. This is what Gamefreak should have done:
>Realize they aren't capable of delivering on the expectations placed on them
>Reach out to parent company for a larger budget to hire the staff capable of delivering a quality product on time
>Game still rakes in money hand-over-fist and everyone is happy
But here's what Gamefreak actually did:
>Scramble to make a game with more on the cutting room floor than is on the actual cart because despite all the cut corners because "they will buy it anyway"
>Lie to consumers over and over again in attempt to save face and maintain the "small indie company" shtick they've had going since the beginning despite making video games for the largest media franchise in the whole ass world
>Cut features between games to prevent players from establishing a unanimous "best gen" so they can save time on new games by remaking old ones for nostalgic idiots
>Disregard burnt out fans and choose to indoctrinate new kids to replace them instead by constantly shilling old games in new ones
>Continue this process forever because it works and nobody will ever stop them because it still makes money for said parent company
