Has it ever been explained how evolution stones are made? Are they naturally formed or are they manmade?

Naturally formed if the Underground's anything to go off of, though varying in origin considering the inconsistent nature of the Moon Stone. Plus it took mankind a very long time following the discovery of Pokemon to understand the purpose of evolution stones and how they connected species of Pokemon like Pikachu and Raichu that were once thought to be unconnected species outright.

my theory is they're like elemental batteries, some of them can be naturally formed but most are now manufactured. this is also why they can only be used once, a battery won't power your flashlight when it's already drained after all

Probably just form from a lot of that element getting absorbed by rocks. Ultra Plant has a ton of thunder stones lying around, so it isn’t like they’re main pokemon world specific.

Yo what if Clefairys are just Clefable that have never been on the moon, and the exposure to a moon stone reverts them back to their "Origin Form." All the clefairys on the moon evolve as soon as they get there.
