Umbreon, I started breeding it in 2021, but hatched it on New Year's day 2022.

The game play looks fun, the new pokemon look creative, but I do not like the idea of a pokemon game with out interacting with others.

Better means of interacting with others. The return of moves that I had farmed for for many hours. Before I was a shiny hunter I was a trainer and hours put into hp breeding and soft reseting is much an investment like shiny hunting. It may be naive, but I thought I'd be able to continue to bring those 'mons on future journeys with me. But if they are stuck in their time I may have to learn to deal with it. Oh and more shiny hunting with you all!

Pic related includes my last shiny of 2021 and first of 2022. As well as my first hunt of 2021 (Aurorus) and my longest individual hunt of 2021 (Kabutops). Good luck /shw/

Pardon I forgot to mention my latest shinies. I ignorantly managed to find 2 shiny Crustle and a Swana hunting for a normal Kartana in ultra space in Ultra Moon. Then I realized Kartana is only in Ultra Sun. I did end up booting US and getting a level ball knock off Kartana so, end result I'm just an idiot with a few extra shinies and Ultra beasts.

Means that anyone interested in shiny hunting is doing it in sword and shield which they probably already did before, or in old games which is a very small number.

I'm trying to shiny hunt for the first time (Not counting chain fishing in X/Y since that was like, a shiny every 10 or so tries).

Right now I'm starting with Galarian Zigzagoon since I figured it'd be simple enough. If I'm understanding correctly, I just run into them in the OW, knock them out, and avoid knocking out anything else?

I have a shiny Cresselia on Diamond, but I don't know if it's legit. I fucked around with an Action Replay "All wild Pokemon are shinies" code but I'm not sure if I started the Cresselia event with it activated. Months later after I'd stopped cheating I found it in a random encounter. Think I should actually get ome legit so I can put it to bed. there is no chaining in SWSH (unless you're fishing), you don't have to worry about encountering other mons
knocking out or catching the same species makes it more likely to appear Brilliant (the ones that glow like pic related)
Brilliant appearance odds max out at 3% after 100 knockouts/captures, but shiny odds for Brilliant pokemon max out after 500
and grab the shiny charm if you haven't already

If you just want better odds, focus on getting the shiny charm first above all things.
Then, here's the easiest way to get shinies, in order , odds are given with shiny charm.

Breeding (using masuda method, google it)
Wild area news, current shiny is magikarp as seen here >>49204543
(every month there's a new wild area news that comes with a guaranteed shiny at a 2% rate, if you got wishing pieces you can spam it or check den beams every day, you can also join other groups, you can also not update the current wild area news so you can keep going at it for as long as you want, as long as you don't connect to the internet)
Max raid adventures legendaries (1/100 chance with shiny charm)
Killing or catching same species over and over, look up brilliant pokemon and you'll have the numbers and the increased odds, this one can be super easy or take you 3 years, I'm at number 2329 for salandit and already got a shiny male one.

>Non targeted
Max raid adventures (1/100 chances again, but unlike the legendary you can't pick what shows up, there's a pool, however with shiny charm you do 4 encounters meaning you have some very high chances of getting one, amazing way to get random shinies while also hunting shiny legendaries)
Camping visits, bit of a meme but the chances are there, look it up.

For galarian zigzagon, the fastest way is this:
>catch a zigzagoon with whatever ball you want it to have then pair it with either a foreign language ditto or a foreign language zigs, or viceversa.
>Do your normal breeding steps before or during, get nature, ivs, ball, ability, attacks, etc prepared, it sucks ass to get a shiny with awful stuff but it's not that big of a deal in gen 8 anymore
>With masuda and shiny charm, odds from hatching are 1 in 512, make sure to get oval charm and flame body/flash fire ability pokemon to hatch eggs in seconds.

the silver lining is that /vp/'s catalog has been in dire need on a cleanup lately, and they're doing an excellent job of that

but if it's more than one individual, hopefully they all get nice month-long breaks. just to scare at least some of them straight

i need some advice
so I've got my old emerald version fully rng cracked and got the idea to transfer down some rng shinies for a playthrough of platinum. i wanted to keep it mostly gen 4 mons which means mostly evos (plus my fav mon relicanth) and i realized that all of them could fit on a sand team so im just gonna fill odds hunt hippowdon in game and do that
i need a good 6th member for a sand team that can hopefully be gotten in gen 3 since im too old to keep doing full odds hunts

2950 encounters for shiny charmed max caught/knocked out salandits so far.
Getting pissed off, what really sucks is that if I DO find another shiny salandit, there's a too high of a chance that is another shiny male.

I'm starting to think the brilliant pokemon shit does NOT take into account pokemon knocked out because I rarely see brilliant salandits despite having like 700 knocked out
