Drayano's hacks are shit, and are shilled by retarded teenagers who feel hardcore for beating "muh difficult pogeymans romhack." The fanfic balance changes are arbitrary and stupid, the difficulty isn't even as good as alternatives, and there's nothing changed beyond pokemon and trainers.

If you want a good romhack with new content, there's vastly better alternatives.

If you want a difficult kaizo-style romhack, there's vastly better alternatives.

Depends which original you're playing. If it's gen 4 or gen 5 then yeah Dray's hacks are superior. I haven't played his other ones; they're too old and I can't vouch for them.

Dray's gen 5 hacks are pretty good, they don't break the feel of Unova too much, BBVW2 in particular are excellent. Renegade Platinum is kinda annoying though, not as bad as Radical Red about it but falls into the trap of "give opponents more options than the player" and it's really noticable if you avoid the starters. These types of hacks always feel kinda awkward because you hit a point where you get good tms and even the improved ai is still Pokemon ai so the game just breaks wide open.
I haven't tried the older ones. I'm curious about the HGSS attempt 2 he's working on but the BBVW2 redo is supposedly going to be balanced like renegade plat so it's probably gonna be shit.

What's even the fucking point of it? Why playing it if there's ACTUAL DOZENS of hacks doing the same shit? Why it exist?
Also - Add Gaia and arguably Blazing Emerald to the list for Elite 4 of hacks. Blazing Emerald is not really that great but i like some of the Hoennian Forms and it's quite playable without being cringe.

Prism has flaws, but it's still an overall very solid and original game with many exceptional moments (mound cave, the pokemon forest, the haunted mansion, etc) and cool features. Very amazing honestly, and can't be compared to a crystal reskin lmao.

Gen 4 and Gen 5 are certainly Drayano's best hackroms. People here want specialized stuff but I believe he did a great job at balancing out the work. The difficulty is respectful and the overall pokemon avaliability is excelent. Pokemon balancing is tame at best, you get to enjoy using shitmons but not like in Radical Red where shitmons are, sometimes, more than viable.

I agree with this anon's last 2 sentences tho. If you want difficulty there are better options. And if you want to enjoy new features there are better options. Drayano's roms are more of the same when playing a pokemon mainline game. You get a decently challenging game with way more pokemon options. And I would certainly argue that Sacred Gold/Storm Silver offer, currently, the best Johto experience.
