Prove to me they're going to actually learn something from Legends and retain its positives in future installments for Gen 9 onward, and not just dump it immediately because the next game needs to be as simple as possible for the next team of newbies who need programming experience, but won't actually get to put that experience to good use anywhere because every single GameFreak game is a learning experience for another batch of newbies.

In every single way Legends is shaping up to be the best Pokemon game. At this point the only reason you can hate Legends for, as an actual Pokemon fan and not some seether from /v/ who hates the whole series anyway, is that you miss trainer battles. You can enjoy trainer fights with Youngster Timmy and his Patrat all day if you want, I'll be enjoying the actual action boss fights where my trainer can take damage.

Remember when Zelda got stale? Skyward Sword made it abundantly clear that the formula was old. Then Breath of the Wild came out and everyone rejoiced that they made it much better. People on this board even said “We need a Pokémon + BOTW game!” And you might think that’s what Legends is- it’s not. It has all the window dressing to make you think of BOTW but fundamentally nothing has changed. The game is still just two scenes- the overworld and the battle scene. You know what would have made this game actually like BOTW? If the battles weren’t still turn-based. If they said “Hey, for this one let’s limit the roster and that way we can have live action battles that are fun and engaging” then I would be on board. That is never going to happen (inb4 “What about Tekken with a Pokémon paint job?”). You know why? Because Nintendo doesn’t innovate until it’s abundantly clear that they have to! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Who cares that we’re alienating the base of fans who have been with us from the start? The babies still lap up the same old shit! And that’s what this is and what you’re so desperate to convince yourself it isn’t

What was stale about Pokemon was more the world than the gameplay. The gameplay is still fun, maybe it could have experimented with new ideas like the boss fights we have now, but the system was solid. The whole rival/8 gyms/evil team/professor was what was stale. People try to praise SwSh by saying gym battles are a big spectacle now so it's totally a new thing but it's still exactly the same on the surface. My only concern with Legends is that it tries to shove in some kind of progression concerning the number 8 like 8 badges or 8 bosses or something like that. I'll even take the number 9.

I appreciate game freak taking a new direction, but the whole idea of becoming the champion after taking on challenges (gyms) and growing up is what *is* pokemon. Its almost tradition at this point, and I may be a boomer but I'll really miss it if future games completely go a different route.
Hoping the best for Arceus, and maybe someday we will get a SWSH 2 that has as much live put into it as the DLC did and not the base game

That's another studio you retard, Why would they stop making main games, which can go hand in hand with Go to make more money than one studio alone? Your earlier point about Let's Go is still a somewhat main game, which Gamefreak makes one of each year, more or less. Decisions within those games are influenced by the success of previous games.
