"play the games" my ass, none of the BF characters have additional dialogue in HGSS except Palmer, and the only change is that he doesn't know who you are like in DPPt.
I mentioned the stat trainers and Palmer because they weren't just random characters in Sinnoh, you meet all the stat trainers in your adventure before seeing them in the BF, one of them is the brother of an Elite Four, and Palmer is the father of your rival. All of them are linked to Sinnoh. If Gamefreak actually had planned to make some of those characters somehow related to Johto, they could've foreshadowed their appearance in HGSS beforehand, but they didn't, because they clearly didn't plan this shit - unlike Caitlin, who had foreshadowing that pays off when she became an Elite Four member in Unova. They just copy-pasted the whole thing in Johto, the characters are there because they're necessary as a game mechanic for the Frontier to work, nothing more. They did the same thing with the Battle Maison, which was clearly made for Kalos (French name, european architecture, Battle Chatelaine all wearing fancy dresses) but was copy-pasted in Hoenn even though it didn't fit there at all. But at least then they had the brain to replace the Multi Battle characters with Hoenn characters instead of keeping the Kalos partners for no reason.
