Is it worth going for the 6 IV for this adamant larvitar or should I just settle for the 5 without SpA since its gonna be a physical attacker anyway?

Anyone else invested enough autism into breeding to know if the shiny chain is fucked? I haven’t seen a goddamn shiny in my playthrough and I’ve spent a lot of hours breeding and chaining with no success. In general my RNG across those two mini games and the battle tower have been atrocious.

It only effects breeding, so chaining is moot in your scenario. I'm assuming you're masuda methoding with shiny charm which is 1 in 512 so you're just unlucky if you've gone over 355 eggs and no shiny.

I'm new to breeding, with a 11/12 chance that the 5th stat is Best from having a 6/6 Bold larvitar with destiny knot and a 5/6 adamant larvitar with everstone, why is it taking so long to get one with 6 Bests? It's basically just dice rolling on 1 stat

Destiny Knot makes it so you inherit 5/6 stats from either parent so the last stat is going to be randomly generated. If you breed two 6/6 pokemon together you only have like a 1/31 chance of getting a 6/6 baby since all the IVs it can inherit will be 31, meaning the last stat, whichever it ends up being, is going to be a die roll.

Because it's not 11/12, destiny knot randomly picks 5 IVs and assigns them randomly.
You have a chance that it picks the shitty one and 4 perfects and then the last one is random.
You have a chance you get 5 perfects but then randomly assigned so the one you want is perfect but now another isn't.

Yeah so 4 are guaranteed and I have an 11/12 of the 5th being, and the 6th is dice rolled. I'm basically breeding shit loads of 5 IV ones atm, I don't get why that final stat roll is so hard to get as a best unless its maybe way lower probability to roll a best stat than decent etc

you were literally just told why. If you breed a 6/6 with a 6/6 you're only guaranteed a 5/6. So two 6/6 parents only have a 1/31 chance of making a 6/6 baby.

you're not even stating from that; you have a 5/6 and a 6/6 parent so your odds are even worse than that.

No, it's faster to breed with a 4 or 5 IV Ditto than it is to grind BP for Bottle Caps and Rare Candy (or Exp Candy in SwSh).

I hatched a shiny totodile and larvitar trying to go for a 6IV in bdsp. Totodile didn’t have it’s HA and a speed IV and tyranitar had 4 IV’s missing attack and defense. I hatched the remainder of eggs in my box and got my 6IV HA Totodile and settled for a 5IV larvitar but kept the shinies on my team because getting my favorites one day after the other without even trying for them was such a nice surprise. The rest of my team I was able to breed 6IV beldum and HA bagon, torchic and elekid are 5IV but elekid was such a pain in the ass because every time I bred a usable elekid I had to stop breeding, evolve it into electabuzz and then resume breeding. I never got into competitive or breeding until the qol changes in gens 7 and 8 but bdsp being so 1:1 with dp brought out an autism I did not know was dormant in me to breed my favorite team of bros. I’ve had a comfy time with bdsp so far
