It's fine for anything pre-Emerald to not include the BF because the BF hadn't been in anything yet. Everything after cutting the BF is not ok, not even in BW2 with the Kino World Tournament.

The problem isn't so much the lack of specifically the Battle Frontier or specifically the copy pasting of existing content. The problem is they basically offered nothing to anyone who already played XY but wanted more of that sort of battling, while also not meeting expectations of a remake adding more than the third version. Gen 1 didn't have any sort of battle facility, but FRLG added the Trainer Tower. GS didn't have shit and the Crystal Battle Tower was borderline experimental, but a copy pased Battle Frontier is a welcome addition to the game. As it stands, anyone who played XY isn't getting anything, anyone who played Emerald is feeling left out, and anyone who only played ORAS has no reason to play XY but every reason to play Emerald. Doesn't that seem like a bad solution to everyone involved? Even B2W2 and USUM, despite lacking specifically the Battle Frontier, offered different battle orientated experiences if you wanted (how good each of them are is up for debate but that's also true of every part of the two iterations of BF so whatever).

Same Gen copy-paste of postgame events is fine. It means I can choose whether to play Platinum or HGSS.
HGSS set a precdent of including basically all the 3rd version features from the original games. Eusine/different Suicune encounter, more Ruins of Alph puzzles, Buena's Password, and the Battle Tower (Frontier).
ORAS did not include the Emerald features, such as battle tents, mirage tower, expanded safari zone (actually, the eviscerated the Safari Zone imo), no Desert Underpass, whacked-out Mauville without a Game Corner, no Pokemon Jump or Dodrio Berry minigames, and a frankly worse version of contests than gen 3, along with the lack of the Battle Frontier.
Of course, BDSP didn't include Platinum features either.

Not to mention, Black Tower/White Treehollow was a sort of Battle Pyramid/Trainer Tower/Hill map navigation challenge, the Type Expert tournaments were a more teambuilding challenge, the download tournaments let you beat up real life children, and Pokestar Studios are a more puzzle experience like Battle Sims. All USUM had was a theoretically better Battle Factory that was garbage when not playing online and even if you do play online you have to hope somebody else bothered with it. Seriously, the Battle Agency is one romhack away from being fun.

"People who played XY don't get anything from ORAS" also applies to HGSS. If you've played the Platinum Battle Frontier, then you don't get anything from the HGSS Battle Frontier. Literally the only difference is the Palmer dialogue (In Platinum he recognizes you since he knew you as a toddler, but in HGSS it's his first time meeting you).
In fact the ORAS Battle Maison does feature some minor gameplay differences compared to the XY Battle Maison. In Multi Battle, you can partner with an AI partner. Those AI partners are different in ORAS than the ones in XY, they're different characters and use different Pokemon. Also, ORAS introduced new Mega Evolutions, which you can use in the ORAS Battle Maison. Notably, four of the ORAS-exclusive Multi Battle AI partners will use some of these new ORAS-exclusive Mega Evolutions (None of the AI partners in XY would use Mega Evolution at all).
It's not much, but it's more than what HGSS had compared to Platinum. HGSS didn't add any new kind of form or item that weren't available in Platinum, and the Multi Battle partners are the same from DPPt.

I'll give ORAS credit for expanding on most of the Gen 3 multiplayer features using the Gen 6 network system. It turned Secret Bases into something to actually interact with, but I did already like them to begin with so I might be biased. Unfortunately, this also means there's not much of a reason to play XY, between ORAS having more online stuff and the same Battle Masion, not to mention having more Megas. Honestly, the biggest crime the lack of Battle Frontier commits is making XY seem worse in comparison.

Technically I think the HGSS engine sucks enough less shit that battles might go faster, but that HP drain is still going to take a while regardless of the version. And the HGSS Battle Fronteir Pokemon pool has some updated movesets, but yes, there's more of a reason to play ORAS's Battle Masion, as I stated in the post below yours. In fact, this goes back to something I've said about the Gen 7 titles, SM is seen as better right now, but the further we get into the future I feel like USUM will be the one that's remembered as being the better version. The major problem is time. Yeah, if you spent a lot of time in Platinum or XY, HGSS and ORAS might seem worse in the moment. But as time goes on, it eventually reverses.

Are you sure? I don't think that's correct. According to what I see on Bulbapedia, the Tower trainers were changed from DP to Platinum, but HGSS uses the same ones from Platinum.

Yeah, I think that's true overall. It's the same thing with the third versions. The feeling of "Wow I have to buy the game again" feels like you're being scammed. But when you come back to the games much later and the cost of the game isn't an issue, then you look more at what the games offer.

I think personal bias can be taken into account too. The Sinnoh Battle Frontier "feels" like it belong be part of Sinnoh. You meet all the stat trainers in Sinnoh. Buck is the brother of an Elite four. Palmer is your rival's father. Similarly, the Battle Maison "feels" like it belongs in Kalos. The name is french. The architecture and overall theme is European. But, I'm a sucker for Multi Battle mode so the Kalos Maison and Hoenn Maison offer me different content, while someone who doesn't care about that mode wouldn't benefit from that.
