Seriously I don't think HGSS are bad games, they are some of the best Pokemon games, but how the fuck can people defend the pokemon selection and more importantly the fucking awful movesets The learnsets of certain pokemon are piss poor and this is only elevated by the fact the main game ends around level 40 TMs are so shittily given out that almost every stone evolution in the game is damn near nonviable for example look at picrel, want to use it with a special grass move? Well you gotta wait until it is level 43 as an exeggcute for it to learn solarbeam, your only other alternative is wood hammer at 37 as an exeggcutor, all other stone evolutions for the most part have this issue Tell me, why the fuck are solarbeam, energy ball, and giga drain ALL post game TMs it makes no sense, add on top of this pokemon like tangela, tyrogue, and others being locked until after the radio tower / getting waterfall and it just makes for a bad experience unless you seriously consider johto to be only "half the game bro" while kanto is legitimately just a victory lap filled with 8 more boss battles before Red

The fuck are you on about? Crystal and HGSS are my most replayed games BECAUSE of the Pokémon selection.

Counterpoint: you can't just slap double 120 base power STAB moves on everything

>>49225058 This.
Move access and coverage options are also a fantastic way to balance out the power gap between weak and strong pokemon. Of course gamefreak doesn't give a fuck about that either though

>>49224748 I'm using one of those in Crystal right now, it kicks ass with Confusion.

>>49225104 score 1 for no physical special split, i do realize im being a bit dramatic but it is still annoying none the less

>>49224748 what's frustrating to me is people will bitch about how pokemon games are too easy so they need to invent autistic nightmares like nuzlockes yet almost always tend to be the same people whining about how exeggutor cannot learn solarbeam or blah blah blah

>>49225939 im referring to the egg only learning bullet seed and later wood hammer, it only gets a special grass move well into kanto - that being leaf storm
>>49225878 for some stone mons sure, but a good chunk, no, and a good amount of mons without good move pools nah

Gold and Silver have 16 gyms. The final boss is Red. That's the entire game.

The only thing I don't like about HGSS compared to GSC is the lack of elemental punch TMs. I get you can get those moves from move tutors, but that's only in the postgame. That shit was rad.
