Yes anon, in this case anyone can take a pokemon from their past and bring it into the new games, when Home connectivity is set, instead of watching the battery in the cart die, consigning their playfile to the ether.

Exactly, this argument is just made by zoomers that don't understand how low tech the gameboy/gba were back then, it was physically impossible to interface between gen 2 and 3.

The problem here retards is that when Ruby and Sapphire dropped you couldn't get every single Pokemon with those alone and ALSO couldn't trade up. To complete your dex and get all the Pokemon you needed to buy Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Colosseum, AND Gale of Darkness. That's six fucking games across two systems, one of which is a whole ass home console. Not to mention these didn't even all come out at the same fucking time (RS and Gale of Darkness were three fucking years apart). Gamefreak has never been more jew than they were back in gen 3. Gens 1 and 2 were passion projects but then they realized the cash cow they were sitting on and decided it was time to capitalize on that.

You don't need six games actually. You only need 4 (Emerald, Leaf Green, Colosseum, and GoD), but you'll need to replay the first two.

I thought the problem was that you couldn't transfer your trained Pokemon up, how does dex completion pose a problem when R/S/E only require the regional dex for the trainer card star and you can get all of the Pokemon by Emerald for the gold stars in FR/LG?
Also Ho-oh and Lugia were upgraded to mythical status in this gen (not needed for Nat dex completion) so you never have to play either GameCube game.

Because it isn't about being able to trade up the EXACT SAME Pokemon dude. I would have been completely content leaving my bros behind on gen 2 provided I could get new Pokemon of the same species in gen 3 and I couldn't. This is the source of the shitflinging on the gen 3 "dexit". It isn't that I couldn't send up MY Feraligatr, it's that I couldn't get Feraligatr AT ALL.

You actually can get obtain all 386 Pokemon in Gen 3. It's the only generation apart from Gen 6 where it is possible to obtain every Pokemon up till that point internally (excluding mythicals). Gen 4 should also count, but you need an Event Movie Regigigas to catch the Regis in Platinum without transfering, so Bulbapedia doesn't count it.

You could not get every single Pokemon in gen 3 until THREE YEARS after the first gen 3 games came out, and even then you had to purchase 4-6 titles and two consoles. This isn't a good thing.

Again, this is the fucking problem. You couldn't get every Pokemon with just Ruby and Sapphire, and they didn't even bother to include fan favorites like old starters in those games to ease the transition. This is why people got upset and are still drawing parallels between 3 and 8 to this day. This isn't hard to grasp dude.

I'm pretty sure the USUM fraud comes close. Needing multiple games for something completely optional in the post-game is something, but releasing the exact same game twice in a row with exactly one year between both is another.

And we're not talking about crystal/emerald/platinum fuckery here, we're talking about double version assfucking, as if they made emerald except without all the advantages of emerald and they basically separately sold ruby and sapphire 1.2 instead.

You could say the exact same thing about the postgame content in Emerald or Platinum. You're letting nostalgia blind you. The only difference here is that USUM was two versions instead of one, but considering you have no reason to want both anyway who cares?

Seriously, when I learnt that you couldn't transfer between Crystal and Sapphire back then I stopped playing Pokémon until Diamond came out. I didn't even got a GBA, and skipped that console completely because of Pokémon, and started playing PS2.

With gen 8, I didn't buy it but a friend gave me Sword after he couldn't bother to complete it due to sheer boredom. I beat the game and transferred all the shit I could to it, I even have a "living dex", but that's it, that's the game that made me stop playing Pokémon.

I keep checking this to see if there's any good news but fuck Game Freak and their jewery. They have a series with the greatest potential ever and they keep churning shitty cashgrabs. Since Gen 6 (included) they've been releasing shit.

Fuck them, not gonna get Arceus either unless it's the second coming of Christ, and it doesn't look like.

So yeah, Gen 3 and 8 made me stop playing Pokémon. Being 30 years old it was about time, to be honest. Last time they tried was 10 years ago, it's time to let it go

I would argue gen 3 gamefreak was more vile, money grubbing, and entirely anti consumer with how they handled everything in Gen 3. Like honestly, I'm assuming people don't talk about it as much since it was one of the "golden gens" but Gamefreak during gen 3 made having a collection of pokemon more hellish compared to now...
