I had a thought, with Sneasel's evo likely being the rock climber from the promo art, Sneasel is most likely introduced from elsewhere especially being poison type. What if it came from another region to help travel the mountains, maybe from a China region, and over time it adapted to the snowy mountains and became Ice/Dark, and Sneasel is actually the Sinnoh regional variant that then spread to Johto and elsewhere? Just a thought.
