>>49234271I think the reason Gen 5 sold so poorly was simply because of poor timing. Pokemon games were on a decline because the DS was fading out, everyone who had a DS likely had a gen 3 or 4 game to play on it at that point. XY had the benefit of being the first games for the 3DS, and ORAS had the benefit of Hoenn nostalgia, so they sold better. Then once GO came out, the series reached a sorta critical mass where every game now was gonna sell incredibly well, even moreso compounded by the Switch's success.
