>>49236991its not about losing money, it's about what's makes more of it. As much as I want to believe they'll do more risky stuff in the future if they can just shit out a garbage remake in Unity and make just as much money then why bother? They've been pushing the envelope performance wise obviously. I'm not saying Gen 9 is gonna be as terrible to look at as BDSP. But Legends is a real formula shake up, something far beyond just "bigger environments, more pokemon, battle gimmick" if the sales don't show that going outside the box like this is a worthwhile venture then I don't see any reason they won't just keep making perpetual reboots. And I'm fairly confident in that because look at how standard and bland pokemon got right after B2W2 failed to sell even 10M.
Legends is sort of in the same spot Unova was in, something different (legends obviously commits way further) that doesn't want to play it super safe. We saw what happened with Unova, and as a result we got Kalos, we probably only got Legends bc they saw they could do weirder stuff in Alola and it could still fill their coffers just as high, but they still bounced back to vanilla boredom in Galar out of caution.
It can happen again, they can go right back to the formula that's already made them millions, they've done it once before.
