Faithful remakes do not have the staying power as a game that cooperates with the other main game of the gen, Oras to xy. This may change with access to home, but odds are they've already killed a good portion of that success by turning many away. They also may not have intended it to be as successful as oras because they may have planned legends to be their big hit.

Maybe the fact they were almost 1:1 remakes done by whos instead of the original studio, while being simultaneously overshadowed by the original studio, announcing their own game for launch just 3 months after BDSP's launch.
It was meant to be a chewing-gum game, designed to not have the staying power every other christmas release had, as they didn't want it drawing sales from Legends.

The thing is, after breeding my perfect team of 6, there just isn’t much reason to keep playing. The rival, gym leader and e4 matches are fun while grinding for level 100 and the battle tower masters is better than swsh, but unless you’re going for the black trainer card there really isn’t much to do in this game. I put 150 hours faster on this than I did with sword, I enjoyed my time getting through the main game and postgame more than I did with swsh and the dlc. I just can’t be bothered to keep playing a game without online matchmaking for battles, when on top of that I’ve completed the dex god knows how many times over and already have all my favorites and their shinies br ready in other games. Just can’t be bothered to do go on yet another legendary hunt for mons I already have. I’d like to see gen 9 take things that worked both in swsh and bdsp but I guess we’ll have to see where legends arceus takes us first.

I skipped gen 4 and used this as the change to play gen 4 blind, not sure if its because I dont have nostalgia goggles, or if this "remake" is the issue, but damn, what a boring generation. No variety of Pokemon, the same bidoofs, boring rival, boring story, boring gym leaders, boring, just boring and repetitive. Gen 4 cucks, turn your nostalgia goggles off, what an overrated game and reigon.

I like the glitches, and the XP share + grand underground has allowed me to raise about a box full of team members throughout the game. It's a very unique way to play Pokemon by those margins, and I'm having a lot of fun doing that.

They added nothing new of note even ORAS and FRLG added new stuff and ORAS had strong online features which kept people playing it where as BDSM gutted most of the online features in BDSP so you'd have to use home (which you still can't use yet lol). It is hands down the weakest remake yet and there isn't much of a reason to play it over platinum

The dex variety sucks for sure. I did a Nuzlocke of gen 4 once and after getting wiped at some point I realized I always end up with the same damn team every single time. Youre pretty much guaranteed to have at least your starter, Starly, Bidoof, Shinx, Geodude and Zubat because the variety is so garbage in this gen.
