That said I'd be fine with a single generation with no new Pokemon, where instead they basically rework the entire dex with buffs/nerfs to make them more interesting across the board. Fix the learnsets to match up with modern mechanics. Clean up all the archaic mechanics that haven't been touched since literally Gen 1. Hand out new signature abilities/moves to older Pokemon.
Just generally do a bit of spring cleaning.
