What is stopping professors from trying to rebuild the fossil pokemon population back up and slowly reintroduce them back into the wild?

yeah, fossil pokemon are just roaming around in the crown tundra, and a few dex entries establish that they've established wild populations after escaping/being set free from captivity, which is a very realistic thing to happen in pokemon

Same thing happened with people releasing their Lapras breedjects. Dec says that runaway Lapras overpopulation is depleting the fish pokemon stock.
