There are a lot of ugly pokemon (espicially after gen 4) But most redesigns look even worse (Subjectivly). So what about a thread that exclusivly shows the few good ones

The point of the design, giving it a neck, not only makes it look like a ant eater, but like a biological creature (like the orginal pokemon designs), sane for the ears. The stupid belly pipes made no sense on themself, but just looked ugly. The tail of the orginal looks multilated. While the flame makes it look like, you know a ant eater, and not just some retarded stump.
In short, it looks like a ant eater, and not some ugly toy

You've completely missed the point of the design then, it's a literal ironworks to go along with the metal plating of Durant. And the smokey tail on the redesign doesn't actually add to the design as it's something you can already do with the design as is.

Despite making it look like a creature able to life. A gneral trend in the orginal pokemons, while the new ones look more like plushies and toys, to make them markeble (which 90% of the times just doesn't work) does having a neck just make it look less ugly.
The tail flame is the perfect design idea for exactly fitting both idea ( far better then the ugly unnecessary belly tubes)

It is a design based on mostly aant eater with furnace hunting durant. Literally adding a design element (like the fire tongue) which works for both is the most vasic idea, instead one, that bearly works and look ugly

I liked the belly tubes and the ears are ugly as well as the random stones on its shoulders. . But I do like that you made the eyes smaller, they always annoyed me.

Also, I'm not sure since they never seem to do anything with it in any official representations but I imagine it is able to produce a tail-like smokescreen from its exhaust pipe.

Notice how at no point does he say it's not supposed to be cool, he says "it'd be even cooler if X" and "too cool". In other words, Luxray is supposed to be cool.
He also somehow failed to realise that it's actually Luxray's giant goofy-ass ears that make the design less cool than it could be.
