Do any of you guys happen to play Pokémon Soulsilver or Heartgold on an emulator? If you physically have the Poké-walker, is it possible to transfer Pokémon from my save file to the device?

I was thinking if I got an IR reader for my computer, it would be able to communicate with my Poké-walker

I unfortunately haven't been able to find any information on this topic, so I wanted to ask here as well.

I have pokewalker and soulsilver so why would I play it on an emulator? Feels like there wouldn't be any reason for people who have pokewalkers to emulate the game.

Not op, but I play on emulator because I can upscale to my monitor without need for a capture card, plus I can keep my save on cart

OP here - this.

I would love to play it on the Switch, or even the Wii U, but Nintendo is not wanting to bring older games to light; Emulation is my only option for the sake of modern convenience.

You can ironically blame games like HGSS for this fact. This is a series of remakes to prey on nostalgia. They don't re-release old titles because they can't charge full game price for them and it could hurt sales of newer remakes. For example, do you really think BDSP would have sold anywhere near as many copies as they did, considering they cost $60, if you could get Platinum on the Switch for $20? If you do, you're crazy.

The difference being HGSS brought modern improvements and QoL to the game, ORAS too though they messed a lot up. I much prefer emulating the old games over cheap remarks like bdsp though

OP here - something about collecting steps and catching Pokémon in an LCD setting is really appealing to me. Yeah, we have Pokémon GO, but there's something wonderful about playing with a character in-game, and taking it with you

Actually it isn't. Nintendo only owns 1/3 of TPCI and they have no control over the games at all. This is Gamefreak's loss.

If you want a pedometer the Pokewalker is unironically one of the best ones ever made. A university did a whole ass study on it and found it to be one of the most accurate ones ever made.

I've been doing some more research, and I have a hypothesis. What if I were to use an IR on my computer, which then can act as the IR chip that was in the original DS cartridge? I'm not sure if I would have to convert any save data from my emulated game, but because the file is already on the PC itself, it seems like it would work.

If you own a 3ds you can back up the save in your cartridge and inject your emulator save. Then connect your cartridge with the pokewalker, and return the save to your emulator

I tried doing the exact same thing ago like a year ago, OP. Transferring my old SS save to my PC so I can play on my big monitor and attempting to use the PokéWalker.
This is what I found out: some people managed to find exploits but only doable with some old as fuck Palmtops, and what they did was deprecated over 8 years ago and never went anywhere. I guess no one cares enough.

That's a shame. I don't have the physical cartridge anymore, but I do have my Poké-walker and an emulated save file. I think if I use an IR reader for Windows 10, it can trick the Poké-walker into thinking it's a cartridge. I'll make a new thread when the IR comes and share what I found

I found a similar situation when I went looking into making my own Pokewalker routes.
Theoretically doable but the research to get there just isn't there even though almost all data is saved on the cartridge rather than the walker itself.
For instance, if you change the sprites on the game, then they'll reflect that change on the walker.
