The 1st Gen trade evos were supposed to work like shelmet's and karrablast's. Kadabra looses weight when traded with haunter, who gains a body. And the number of arms between graveler and machoke are changed.

kadabra loses weight because it's too heavy for him, picrel and gastly already gains hands upon becoming haunter, he's phazing into the real world. although graveler and machamp do sorta seem to swap features.

I only hate Golem because I have to trade Gravler from other games to evlove it. I do like how some of the trade evos on swsh can be obtained without trading. I was able to get a Golem on moon version during an in game trade.

Oh yes, I just reluctantly evolved my Machoke into Machamp in BW2 because they stacked it against me : Machoke's sprite sucks. He's permanently kneeling and purple instead of blue, literally unplayable.
I dislike Machamp's design but from the back at least he's blue and standing firm.

I agree on your descriptions, they lose some details on evolving. All the feathery details on Graveller and his 4 arms gone, Alakazam loses all the red details and tail from Kadabra, Gengar loses the big creepy hands from Haunter, and Machamp gets am uglier face with the lips, loses the champion belt, and also the red scars on his arms.
Some DBZ style shit of Frieza becoming simpler on his final evo.

Because trade evolution Pokemon was supposed to give you a corrupt Pokemon,

You were supposed to trade machoke and traveler, machamp gets gravelers extra arms and gravelers gets partial data for machokes real Evo that is apparently a buff saurian.

It's the same thing with Alakazam and Gengar.

Alakazam data gets corrupted and your left with half the data of Kadabra and the trading computer fills in the missing data by copying what data you have, giving Alakazam two spoons. And it fixes haunter not having a body using the missing data from the Alakazam

Something with Scizor and steelix, the metal coat they were holding fuzes to their preevo forms in trade because digitizing flesh is imperfect
