I feel that the current 3d style doesn’t work for Pokémon, I think Pokémon would work better in the style of pic related. So what do you guys think?

Enough people have already said this OP, honestly the only thing that matters is that the gameplay is god and there's enough postgame content for me.
People wanted 3d and now they want it to look older. Pokemon fans always have something to complain about.

Pokemon should go back to the DPPt/BW artstyle, with the mix of sprites and 3D models. It actually looked nice and was a fairly unique artstyle, as opposed to the generic "anime" aesthetic they've been aiming for lately.

Octopath style 2.5D would be superior to what we have now. Nu-pokemon feels like its all placeholder assets and even the free camera areas feel like they're made for a flat map

GameFreak clearly can’t make 3d games, their spritework is much better, and octopath and triangle strategy both look better than every 3d Pokémon game, so explain to me how it’s objectively worse.

P.S. I agree that the blue doesn’t look too good

It does work, there’s just not enough time for love and care and nuance to go into the parts of the game that need it most. Most critical (and even uncritical) fans being aware of the way games get rushed to meet deadlines exemplifies this. Even in Sword and Shield we get little moments and gestures that suggest the developers aren’t necessarily in the business of just slapping stuff together for profit alone. You can tell they want to get creative and try new things. But because a product is better than nothing and all a game needs is to maintain the catch/battle/trade trinity, any spotty investment in other aspects of gameplay can be overlooked or forgiven.

I absolutely love Octopath traveler and I played the demo for Triangle Project yesterday and it looks like it will be amazing too. But I don't really think this would be the best way to go for the series unless it has Octopath level content. GF would just use it as an excuse to be even more lazy and not compensate for it. However should they choose to do it I think Gen 5 remakes would fit the artstyle well.
