>>49267607>SM only issue was the handholding. If you seriously believe this then you haven't played a Pokemon game that came before it.
If SM/USUM/SWSH didn't have a million cutscenes stopping you every second you would speed through the game because it has no substance or content like the first six gens had. It has no National Dex. It has no significant side areas to explore while you progress the story. It has nothing to do in the postgame, and what little there is to do in the battle facilities is watered down by the casualization that started with the Battle Tree and the lack of modes that Gen 7 also pioneered by removing Triples and Rotation.
On top of all that, Sun and Moon was a complete and utter mechanical downgrade from ORAS which featured the PSS, DexNav, Soaring, Horde Battles, interesting new lore that tied the previous games in the series together, and a significant amount of hidden dungeons and side areas as well as Amie and Super Training minigames to break the pace and make up for the lack of Game Corner. There is zero excuse for Sun and Moon to not only not have any of those things, but even basic Pokemon staples right down to map design and gameplay progression that were staples of the first six gens.
SM was the only bad Pokemon game up until its release. It's only lucky that it's been followed suit by USUM and SWSH. For fuck's sake, even LGPE and BDSP are better plays since they at least hold the most basic principles of a Pokemon game.
